Back in November, many Android users paid attention to advertising offers in Google Play search. But then Google assured that this is not advertising, but only proactive recommendations of applications that may be of interest to the user. The latest Google Play update has put everything in its place: these were indeed recommendations, but now an advertising block has also joined them.

A discussion on Twitter, which was launched by developer Mishaal Rahman, revealed the prevalence of an unpleasant new feature. Users from the USA, Canada, Pakistan and India unsubscribed in the comments — all faced ads on Google Play.
It is also noted that, unlike the tests in November, the final interface offers more information about the advertised applications — including the rating and the number of downloads. This also applies to proactive recommendations.
Considering that earlier Google removed advertising from its search engine and YouTube for users from Russia, it probably won't be on Google Play either. It is unclear whether ads are displayed when using a VPN or accounts of regions where such "recommendations" have already appeared.
