A new version of the standard Google Files app has been released on Google Play. It brings the interface to the Material Design 3 design language — this is the first major update of the visual part since 2021.
The updated version is designed to simplify access to the elements: all folders and categories stand out on a neutral background better than in the previous monochrome interface. Another change was the constant display of the search bar at the top, regardless of which section or folder is open.
The Nearby Share section has received a more detailed description and highlights the main advantages of the technology — including local data transmission without an Internet connection. This update did not bring any new features: all the changes are concentrated in the interface.
To get a new design, do not forget to update the "Files" to the current version v1.292.525444002. It seems that a server update is also being distributed in parallel, which is why the fresh interface is not yet available to everyone. If you still don't have it, you'll have to wait a few days.
